Dr. Arthur Porter, the CEO of McGill University Medical Centre, Montreal, has been named board chairman of MEI Healthcare Group, a healthcare management and information technology consulting firm. The Coral Springs, Fla.-based company is looking to expand its global reach, according to an MEI Healthcare news release.
"It's time to take our business plan to the next level, and an important first step is to deepen our pool of international expertise," MEI Healthcare CEO Gordon Baltzer said in the release. "As a trusted adviser to MEI for 20 years, Arthur Porter is a perfect fit."
Porter, born in Sierra Leone, received his medical training from Cambridge University in the U.K. and an MBA from the University of Tennessee. He is a past president of the American College of Radiation Oncology, a fellow of the American Academy of Medical Administrators, past CEO of the Detroit Medical Center and a consultant to the World Health Organization and the World Bank.
