InVentiv Health, a privately held consulting and sales outsourcing company, has acquired i3, a contract research company previously owned by UnitedHealth Group's Ingenix. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
InVentiv completes i3 buy
The deal's closing follows inVentiv's May announced acquisition of PharmaNet Development Group, according to a news release from Burlington, Mass.-based inVentiv. Ann Arbor, Mich.-based i3 is a consulting, outsourcing and data-management services provider for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies.
InVentiv announced plans in January to acquire i3 as it simultaneously said it reached a definitive agreement to acquire management consulting firm Campbell Alliance and named Paul Meister as CEO. Meister is inVentiv's executive chairman and CEO of the private-equity firm that became an owner of InVentiv in 2010.
