Memorial Health, a three-hospital HCA-affiliated system based in Jacksonville, Fla., has become the latest organization to collaborate with convenient-care provider Take Care Health Systems, a Conshohocken, Pa.-based subsidiary of Walgreen Co.
Memorial, Take Care Health affiliate
Take Care operates some 350 work site and 350 retail clinics inside Walgreens stores, including six in the Jacksonville area. The relationship "will increase opportunities for clinical collaboration" and encourage continuity of care, according to an e-mailed news release, as Take Care's electronic health-record system will be used to share information including patients getting a copy of their visit records and Take Care sharing visit information with other providers upon request.
Last month, Walgreen announced plans to collaborate with Johns Hopkins Medicine, Baltimore, on research and patient care. In April, a working relationship between Take Care and the Ochsner Health System in New Orleans was announced.
Memorial Health includes 425-bed Memorial Hospital and 62-bed Specialty Hospital, both in Jacksonville, and the 230-bed Orange Park (Fla.) Medical Center.
