Dr. Shaun Frost, regional chief medical officer of Brentwood, Tenn.-based Cogent HMG, is the new president-elect of the 10,000-member Society of Hospital Medicine and has begun a three-year term on the organization's executive committee.
Society of Hospital Medicine names president-elect
Frost, 42, began his career as a hospitalist in 1998, and in 2006, he joined Cogent Healthcare, which recently merged with Hospitalists Management Group. Frost received the society's Award for Clinical Excellence in 2005.
At the Philadelphia-based society's recent conference in Grapevine, Texas, Dr. Joseph Li, associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and director of hospital medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, took over as president, replacing Dr. Jeff Wiese, professor of medicine at Tulane University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans.
Also at the meeting, four physicians were given the Master in Hospital Medicine honor: Dr. Mary Jo Gorman, CEO of Advanced ICU Care, St. Louis; Dr. Ron Greeno, co-founder of Cogent Healthcare; Dr. Rusty Holman, chief clinical officer of Cogent HMG and 2007-08 society president; and Dr. Erin Stucky Fisher, professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of California at San Diego.
