Dr. Kathy McDonagh has over thirty five years of experience in healthcare leadership roles in a variety of settings across the country. Kathy has been a Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer at such organizations as Saint Joseph's Health System of Atlanta, Saint Thomas Health Services in Nashville, Saint Clare's Health Services in New Jersey and CHRISTUS Spohn Health System in Corpus Christi, TX. Kathy currently is the Vice President for Executive Relations at Hospira, a global healthcare company that provides medical devices, clinical information technology and specialty pharmaceuticals to improve the safety, cost and productivity of patient care.
Dr. McDonagh is a graduate of Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Southfield, Michigan, the University of Detroit and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Health Sciences from Touro University International. Dr. McDonagh's dissertation research was on healthcare governing boards and their impact on hospital performance. She has published extensively and speaks at national conferences about governing board effectiveness and healthcare leadership topics.
Dr. McDonagh is active in many professional and community organizations. Kathy won a Telly Award in 2000, a National Cable Television Award, for her role as host and creator of the program Focus on Health. She has been recognized for her leadership through awards including Fellowship in the American Academy of Nursing and the YWCA Academy of Women of Achievement Award.
