The Massachusetts Medical Society, Waltham, Mass., announced that Dr. Lynda Young, 64, was elected president Thursday during the group's annual meeting.
Mass. Medical Society names new president
Young is chief of community pediatrics division at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Children's Medical Center and a pediatrician with Chandler Pediatrics, both based in Worcester, Mass. She previously served as the society's vice president; she will replace Dr. Alice Coombs for the one-year term, according to a news release about her appointment.
The Massachusetts Medical Society represents 23,000 physicians, residents and medical students and publishes the New England Journal of Medicine.
