Dr. Nancy Snyderman, chief medical editor for NBC News, has been named to the board of directors of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, one of three board appointees the Cambridge, Mass.-based IHI announced.
Snyderman, a specialist in head and neck cancer, is on staff in the Department of Otolarygology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, according to an IHI news release. Before joining NBC in 2006, she focused on digital health issues as vice president of consumer education at Johnson & Johnson. Snyderman also serves as medical director for GE Healthcare's healthymaginanation initiative.
She will be joined on the board by nurse and elder-care expert Terry Fulmer, the Erline Perkins McGriff professor and dean of the College of Nursing at New York University, and by Jennie Chin Hansen, CEO of the American Geriatrics Society and a past president of AARP. Hansen also serves as a member of the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, according to the IHI statement.
