HCA, Nashville, completed its purchase of 473-bed Mercy Hospital in Miami from Catholic Health East, Newtown Square, Pa., for undisclosed terms, according to an HCA news release (PDF).
HCA completes purchase of CHE hospital
HCA has renamed the hospital Mercy Hospital-A campus of Plantation Hospital, a reference to its new status in relation to HCA’s 264-bed Plantation (Fla.) General Hospital. HCA will operate Mercy according to Roman Catholic ethical and religious directives, according to the release.
HCA announced its letter of intent to acquire Mercy in June 2010. HCA and CHE announced a definitive agreement for the deal in February. The Federal Trade Commission cleared the deal of antitrust review in March.
