Managed Health Care Associates said Monday that it would buy Tidewater Group Purchasing, a Milford, Ohio-based GPO owned by Omnicare. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Managed Health Care Associates buying Ohio GPO
MHA is a Florham Park, N.J.-based group purchasing and pharmacy services company for alternate site providers. The Tidewater deal is the company’s second acquisition of a GPO that services long-term-care facilities this year; in January, MHA announced its acquisition of Navigator Group Purchasing in Nashville.
“We have clearly stated our intentions to become the largest GPO servicing long-term care facilities, with a plan to achieve this through both organic growth and acquisitions,” said MHA CEO Doug Present in a news release.
Last week, Omnicare, a Covington, Ky.-based pharmacy services provider, divested its clinical research unit, Omnicare Clinical Research, to private-equity firm Nautic Partners on April 28.
