HealthSouth Corp., Birmingham, Ala., closed its corporate offices today after a loss of electricity caused by the wave of thunderstorms hitting areas of the South.
Harsh storms shut HealthSouth headquarters
Roughly 600 people work in HealthSouth’s corporate offices, and many are working from home, spokeswoman Helen Todd said. HealthSouth human resource executives from across the country were in town for a meeting at a local hotel, so the company’s human resource staff is working from there, Todd said.
There are many trees down in Birmingham, but HealthSouth’s building was not damaged by the storm, she said.
Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley declared a state of emergency for all Alabama counties, and more storms are expected tonight.
