Philadelphia-based Wolters Kluwer Health has entered into an agreement to acquire Lexi-Comp, a drug information and clinical content provider based in Hudson, Ohio. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Wolters Kluwer Health to acquire Lexi-Comp
Wolters Kluwer Health's offerings include textbooks, point-of-care clinical information tools, journals, medication information software and other health information products. It is a division of Wolters Kluwer, a publishing and information services company headquartered in the Netherlands.
The Lexi-Comp deal is the latest in a series of acquisitions meant to strengthen Wolters Kluwer Health's point-of-care offerings, according to a company news release.
In October 2008, Wolters Kluwer Health purchased UpToDate, an electronic clinical-information resource. And in December 2010, the company acquired Pharmacy OneSource, a hospital pharmacy software-as-a-service provider.
"Wolters Kluwer Health has focused heavily on building a robust suite of clinical decision-support solutions for point-of-care use by healthcare professionals, and our acquisition of Lexi-Comp is very much aligned with this strategy," said Arvind Subramanian, president and CEO of Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Solutions, in the release.
