St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, Mass., said it reached an agreement to buy land from the CitySquare II Development Co. to build a two-story cancer center.
Mass. hospital to build cancer center
The project, which is scheduled to open in January 2013, will consolidate St. Vincent Hospital's outpatient cancer care, Enzo Centofanti, executive director of cancer services for the 231-bed hospital, said in a news release announcing the deal. St. Vincent will invest $21 million in the 40,000-square-foot development. CitySquare II, a public-private partnership to develop commercial and residential properties in downtown Worcester, is primarily financed by Opus Investment Management, according to the release.
