Awarepoint Corp., a provider of real-time location systems for hospitals, announced it has purchased Patient Care Technology Systems, another player in the equipment location-systems arena, for an undisclosed amount.
Awarepoint buys PCTS
San Diego-based Awarepoint purchased the company from Consulier Engineering, Riviera Beach, Fla.
Management for Patient Care Technology Systems will remain with the company and will report to Jay Deady, CEO of Awarepoint, according to an Awarepoint news release. The majority of the company's staff will be retained, according to the release, and Patient Care Technology System's current headquarters in Charlotte, N.C., will remain open.
Awarepoint systems are installed at 93 hospitals and Patient Care Technology Systems has 60 hospital customers, according to the release. Both companies offer systems designed to track the location and status of people and equipment throughout hospitals.
