Renato “Val” Baciarelli was named to the new position of COO of Christus Santa Rosa Health System, San Antonio, effective May 23. Baciarelli currently is president and CEO of the Rose de Lima campus of St. Rose Dominican Hospitals, a Catholic Healthcare West facility in Henderson, Nev. He had been with St. Rose in different capacities for 11 years, according to a news release from St. Rose Dominican Hospitals. Christus Santa Rosa declined to provide his age. …

Bob Lanik, the current CEO of St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center, a Catholic Health Initiatives hospital in Lincoln, Neb., is transitioning into the newly created full-time role of CEO of CHI Nebraska. A search to replace Lanik at St. Elizabeth will begin this month and is expected to take six months, a hospital news release said. Lanik, whose age was not given, started at St. Elizabeth in 1974 as director of cost accounting and was promoted to CEO of the hospital in 1984. Along with St. Elizabeth, CHI Nebraska consists of Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney; St. Francis Medical Center, Grand Island; St. Mary's Community Hospital, Nebraska City; the Physician Network, a multispecialty organization with 116 doctors at 22 sites; and HealthConnect at Home. … Tim Moran has stepped down as service area president for Catholic Healthcare West and president of Methodist Hospital in Sacramento, Calif., effective April 15. No specific reason was given for his departure. Jill Dryer, a CHW spokeswoman, said Moran is “looking to pursue other professional opportunities.” Moran oversees four hospitals in the Sacramento region of not-for-profit CHW, including Methodist. Denny Powell, president of Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, will provide temporary oversight of Methodist until a permanent replacement has been named. Leadership for the Sacramento service area has not yet been determined, Dryer said. … Margaret “Maggie” Gill was named president and CEO of Memorial Health, Savannah, Ga. Gill, 39, has served as the hospital's interim CEO since the board voted to remove the former president and CEO, Philip Schaengold, in January, over issues related to the hospital's finances. Gill previously served as Memorial's COO. She joined the hospital in 2004 as VP for managed care and finance. … Julia Berndt was named CFO of Logansport (Ind.) Memorial Hospital, effective April 25. Berndt previously was CFO for Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega, Ga., which is part of SunLink Health Systems, a chain based in Atlanta. In Indiana, she replaces Chad Higgins, who left Logansport Memorial in December to take a position at a bank, a hospital spokeswoman said. Berndt's age was not available.
Golden Living, Fort Smith, Ark., named Cindy Susienka to the new position of COO and Larry Deans to the new position of chief development officer as part of a restructuring and relocation to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Susienka, 51, previously was president and CEO of the subsidiary Golden Innovations, Delafield, Wis. Deans, 59, was president of Golden LivingCenters, the company's skilled nursing company. In addition to taking responsibility for building new business and evaluating merger and acquisition opportunity, Deans will focus on building the recently launched Golden Clinical Rx Solutions, a consulting pharmacy and automated in-house pharmacy dispensing business.
