To select Modern Healthcare's fourth biennial listing of the Top 25 Women in Healthcare, co-sponsored by Furst Group, the magazine issued a call for nominations Dec. 20. The nomination deadline was Feb. 11. Readers submitted a total of 324 nominations, shattering the record 199 nominations received in 2009.
How we determined the Top 25
The magazine accepted nominees from all sectors of the industry, including hospitals, health systems, physician organizations, insurance, government, vendors and suppliers, trade and professional organizations, and patients' rights groups. To view the list of female healthcare executives honored in 2005, 2007 and 2009, please visit the Recognition section of ModernHealthcare.com.
As with the previous three programs, an editorial review board consisting of senior editors at Modern Healthcare reviewed the 2011 nominations and judged this year's candidates on the following five criteria. The candidate must have:
- Successfully served as a leader or managed an organization or company.
- Shown the ability or power to effect change in the healthcare industry.
- Demonstrated a willingness to share expertise with others in the field.
- Served as a role model or mentor to other female healthcare executives.
- Assumed a leadership position in the industry outside of the candidates' own organization or company.
Modern Healthcare will be honoring this year's Top 25 Women in Healthcare at a gala to be held July 12 in Atlanta. Preceding the gala will be a nearly day-long educational conference titled Women Leading Healthcare.
Furst Group is sponsoring the gala, and the conference is being held through a partnership between Modern Healthcare and Piedmont Healthcare, Atlanta. For more information on the gala and conference, please contact Lissa Salvatierra, event marketing specialist, at 312-649-5238, or [email protected], or visit ModernHealthcare.com/WomenLeadingHealthcare
Modern Healthcare extends its appreciation and thanks to all of the nominees and to everyone involved who contributed to the success of this year's program. Please read the magazine for details of Modern Healthcare's fifth biennial listing of the Top 25 Women in Healthcare, to be published in 2013.
