McLean Hospital, a 174-bed psychiatric hospital in Belmont, Mass., signed a five-year contract with the Abu Dhabi-based National Rehabilitation Center to support the substance-abuse treatment facility's expansion.
McLean signs deal with Abu Dhabi facility
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, according to a hospital spokesperson. McLean is an affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
NRC, which was established by the United Arab Emirates government in 2002, has 40 residential beds, according to a news release. NRC aims to open a new facility that will have 200 beds in 2014, a McLean spokesperson said.
As part of the deal, a multidisciplinary team at McLean will develop clinical programs, infrastructure, policies and educational programs for NRC.
The partnership is not the first time that McLean and NRC have worked together. A spokesperson for McLean said the hospital worked on a consultation project with NRC about three years ago, which led to the new contract.
