Merge Healthcare, Chicago, has hired its first-ever chief medical officer, according to a company news release.
Merge Healthcare names CMO
Dr. Cheryl Whitaker, 43, will oversee new product strategy for the healthcare IT vendor and act as its liaison with clinician-focused industry organizations.
Whitaker most recently was senior program officer for health with the Chicago Community Trust. Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn recently appointed Whitaker to the board of the Illinois Health Information Exchange Authority. Before joining the trust, Whitaker was an assistant professor of preventive medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
