Dr. Benito "Ben" Alvarez has been hired as the senior vice president for medical affairs and chief medical officer for the 490-bed Akron (Ohio) General Medical Center that is part of the three-hospital Akron General Health System. He starts July 1.
Akron General names Alvarez CMO
Alvarez, 46, currently works as the co-director of the Cleveland Clinic’s General Obstetrics and Gynecology’s eastern division and quality review officer of its OB/GYN & Women’s Health Institute. He previously served in the U.S. Air Force as a flight surgeon.
Alvarez will replace Dr. Paula Bauer, who returned to her previous post as chair of pathology.
