Michael Young announced his resignation as CEO of Atlanta's Grady Memorial Hospital so he could take the top job at 599-bed PinnacleHealth System in Harrisburg, Pa. Young worked as president and CEO of the 689-bed academic medical center for less than three years, starting in September 2008. His resignation from Grady will be effective in June.

Young said during a news conference that he was moving back to central Pennsylvania to be closer to family, according to media accounts. Young was credited with turning around Grady’s financial operations, including a $75 million swing in operating performance during his tenure and a 28% increase in net patient revenues in 2009, according to news releases from Grady and PinnacleHealth. Grady is initiating a national search for Young’s successor.
