The Indiana Health Department has successfully established connectivity with its first regional health information exchange to transmit comprehensive information about childhood vaccinations to healthcare providers using electronic health records, according to a news release.
Ind. Health Department connects with regional info exchange
The state's program, Children and Hoosiers Immunization Registry Program, or CHIRP, has established a live interface with the Michiana Health Information Network, a regional information exchange accessed by 3,200 providers in southwestern Michigan and Northern Indiana. CHIRP tracks children’s vaccinations across Indiana.
The news release said the connectivity will help physicians achieve Stage 1 of the federal guidelines for meaningful use of electronic health-record systems.
