Charles Christian has been promoted to chief information officer of Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Ind., after serving for more than two decades as the hospital's director of information technology.
Good Samaritan names Christian CIO
As director of IT, Christian managed operations at the acute-care hospital and at all of its outpatient clinics. In his new post as CIO, he will help advance Good Samaritan's five-year plan, which includes goals for meeting federal meaningful-use requirements, hospital President and CEO Rob McLin said in a news release.
Before joining Good Samaritan Hospital in 1990, Christian worked in IT at Baxter Travenol, now Baxter International. He also is a past chairman of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and is the winner of the 2010 John E. Gall Jr. CIO of the Year Award from HIMSS and the College of Health Information and Management Executives.
