Basel, Switzerland-based pharmaceutical company Roche has named Dr. Janet Hammond vice president of translational medicine for virology in pharmaceutical research and early development. In her new role, Hammond will be responsible for driving early clinical development for Roche's discovery and translational area, according to a news release. She will relocate to the company's Nutley, N.J., offices.
Roche names Hammond a VP
Hammond previously was chief medical officer and senior vice president of global affairs at Valeant Pharmaceuticals International. She also has worked as a group director at Bristol-Myers Scribb and was the head of clinical drug discovery virology for GlaxoSmithKline.
She currently is an adjunct faculty member at UCLA and an attending physician at the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration Hospital, according to the release. Hammond's age was unavailable at deadline.
