David Laird is set to become president and CEO of Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare, Louisville, Ky., on April 1. Laird, 64, has been the system's senior vice president of strategy and business development since 2008 and was chosen by the board to assume leadership from interim CEO Janice James, a managing director with Huron Consulting Group.
James assumed the role in July 2009 and plans to stay through April 15 to help with the transition, the system said in a news release. Laird has been the lead negotiator in discussions toward forming a statewide Kentucky health network with Catholic Health Initiatives and the University of Louisville and its 329-bed University Hospital. A letter of intent laying the foundation for the partnership was announced in November.
