Ron Girotto, president and CEO of the Methodist Hospital System, Houston, announced he would retire effective at the end of this year.
Girotto, 69, will be replaced Jan. 1 by Dr. Marc Boom, currently an executive vice president with Methodist and the senior operational executive for the system's flagship 965-bed Methodist Hospital, according to an e-mail from the system's board chairman, Ewing Werlein Jr. Boom, who has been with Methodist since 1997, also is responsible for the operating performance of a Methodist physician organization and research institute.
