Providers puzzled by the requirements for participation in the government's electronic health-record incentive programs will find an updated list of answers to frequently asked EHR questions on the CMS' website. The agency recently added to its collection of more than 100 questions about meaningful use, eligibility and other aspects of the program.
CMS updates EHR incentive FAQs
For instance, the site's section on registration and attestation includes information on one of the most commonly asked questions: requirements for hospitals that are dually eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive programs. Those hospitals that meet the dually eligible qualifications must register for both programs, according to the CMS.
New additions to the FAQ section include a clarification of the "reasonable cost" definition for critical-access hospitals and more information about whether large practices can register more than one eligible professional at a time. According to the CMS, there is no method available for doing so at this time.
The 45-question section on meaningful use provides information on a range of topics, including patient-education resource requirements, specifications for quality reporting and electronic prescribing.
Site visitors who cannot find answers to their questions are encouraged to direct them to one of the agency's regional offices.
