A prominent healthcare executive recently said to me, “Everyone is chasing Modern Healthcare.” He wasn't referring to a batch of alleged unpaid parking tickets. He was referring to the fact that some of our competitors borrow our editorial features and ideas in an effort to close the gap between them and us in our coverage of the healthcare industry. In the space below, I highlight some of our new editorial features and ideas that will keep our lap-and-a-half lead over other healthcare publications.
We're ahead of the competition
New features keep you in the know, us in the lead
Marking the one-year anniversary of the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, we've created a special Government Affairs section on our website, ModernHealthcare.com. There you will find breaking news about what the three branches of government—executive, judicial and legislative—are doing that will directly affect the operations of your healthcare organization or corporation.
The Government Affairs section also will feature in-depth editorial offerings such as news features, news analysis, profiles and commentary and subsections on Medicare, Medicaid and Legislation and Regulation. The highlight of the new Government Affairs section will be our exclusive “Window to Washington” blog written by Washington Bureau Chief Jessica Zigmond and Washington reporter Rich Daly. Zigmond and Daly will provide readers with an inside-the-beltway look at the legislative and regulatory process that ultimately will affect how you do business.
The launch of the Government Affairs page on our site follows the Feb. 14 launch of our special Healthcare IT section on Modern Healthcare.com. The section features breaking healthcare IT news, IT features and commentary, reader polls and forums, and focused sections on meaningful use, electronic health records, data security and telemedicine. The new section also features “IT Everything,” our healthcare IT blog written by veteran reporter Joseph Conn, and a new monthly column called CHIME Time by members of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. To visit the section, go to www.modernheatlhcare.com/healthcare-it.
Where were you last March 21 when the U.S. House of Representatives passed the ACA? We were in our newsroom in Chicago following the annual Modern Healthcare Health Care Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which serendipitously kicked off the American College of Healthcare Executives' annual Congress on Healthcare Leadership and had many presenters scrambling to update their PowerPoint slides. That will be a tough act to follow, but we're confident this year's conference will offer executives some thought-provoking and educational concepts to take back to their organizations.
We'll be bringing you gavel-to-gavel coverage of the conference starting today in our [email protected] electronic newsletter. If we have your e-mail address, you'll receive [email protected] automatically. If we don't have your e-mail address, you can follow our coverage at www.modernhealthcare.com/liveat-ache.
We'll be waiting for you at the finish line.
