Wholesale prices for hospital services fell 0.2% in February after a gain of 0.2% the prior month, according to preliminary figures for the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Producer Price Index. That's compared with a 0.2% rise in February 2010. For the 12-month period ended last month, hospital wholesale prices increased 1.4% compared with a 3.5% rise a year ago.
Hospital PPI edges down in February
Physician office wholesale prices climbed 0.9% last month, the preliminary figures show, following the 0.6% dip in January. In February 2010, the physician PPI increased 0.1%. For the year that ended last month, the physician prices increased 1.8% compared with a 2.4% rise the prior year.
