Less than two weeks after closing on a deal to buy Pari Networks, Cisco Systems announced that it has completed its acquisition of Raleigh, N.C.-based Inlet Technologies, a privately held provider of digital media processing platforms.
San Jose, Calif.-based Cisco paid approximately $95 million in cash and retention-based incentives for all shares of Inlet, according to a news release from the buyer. Inlet employees will now become part of Cisco's service provider video technology group. Cisco expects the purchase to strengthen the capabilities of its Videoscape TV platform, which aims to integrate digital TV and online content with social media and communications applications, according to the release.
Cisco has an extensive health information technology business, with product offerings including imaging and telemedicine technologies and a digital media system for healthcare facilities.
