Pro-Pharmaceuticals named Dr. Peter Traber to succeed Theodore Zucconi as president and CEO, effective March 17. Traber has served as Pro-Pharmaceuticals' interim chief medical officer since June, according to a news release from the Newton, Mass.-based developer of cancer and fibrosis treatments. Zucconi will continue to serve on the company's board of directors and have a role in operations, including those relating to Pro-Pharmaceuticals' Latin America expansion.

Traber previously was CEO of the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He also has served as GlaxoSmithKline's chief medical officer and senior vice president of clinical development and medical affairs, as CEO of biotechnology company TerraSep and as CEO of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Philadelphia.
