The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) named Dr. David Gifford to its newly created position of senior vice president of quality and regulatory affairs. Gifford, former director of the Rhode Island State Health Department, will lead the internal quality department and launch quality-improvement initiatives for long-term-care patients.
Association names Gifford to new senior VP post
Gifford, 48, previously worked as a geriatrician and medical director at nursing facilities. Gifford is chairman of the National Quality Forum's Public & Community Health Council and is a member of the National Commission on Prevention Priorities.
Previously, he directed the CMS' national nursing home-based quality-improvement effort as chief medical officer for Quality Partners of Rhode Island.
