Robert Marino assumed the role of president and CEO of Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey today, the company announced.
Marino, 62, has been an officer of the company for 20 years, serving as executive vice president and COO since 2008. He replaces William Marino, 67, who retired as chairman and CEO after 17 years as the company's top executive. The two Marinos are not related.
“Given my New Jersey roots, it is truly an honor to lead the state's oldest and largest health insurer,” Robert Marino said in a news release, which notes that he was born in Newark, N.J., where the company has its headquarters.
