LSS has been a partner of Westwood, Mass.-based Meditech for nearly three decades and the company will now operate as a wholly owned subsidiary, according to a news release.
The decision to acquire LSS was motivated by anticipated changes in payment delivery and the shifting focus toward accountable care organizations, Meditech officials said.
“As new delivery models emerge, our customers will need to tackle issues such as disease management and promoting wellness,” Howard Messing, Meditech president and CEO, said in the release.
The deal has brought with it some changes in senior leadership at both companies. Ken Carlson, LSS Systems' CEO and chief technology officer, and Stephanie Peterson, president and chief operating officer, have both retired. Joanne Wood, Meditech's senior vice president of client services, has also been named president and COO of LSS.
LSS software employees, who number about 200, will stay on as Meditech employees, according to a January new release announcing the deal.
