Carefx Corp., a patient information aggregator, has been acquired by Harris Corp., a publicly traded communications and IT company based in Melbourne, Fla., in a deal worth $155 million.
Harris acquires patient data aggregator Carefx
Carefx, Scottsdale, Ariz., operates Fusionfx, which delivers patient information to providers from various sources. It is used in more than 800 hospitals, systems and health information exchanges worldwide.
“This acquisition will enable Harris to provide an expanded range of interoperability solutions to both government and commercial healthcare providers,” Howard Lance, chairman, president and CEO of Harris Corp., said in a news release.
The deal is expected to close this fiscal year, and is subject to customary approvals and conditions.
Carefx was a privately owned for-profit company whose primary owner was the Carlyle Group, a Washington-based private-equity firm, according to Carefx. Carefx was founded in 2002 and employs about 250 people.
