In an effort to improve seasonal flu vaccination rates among African-Americans and Hispanics in New York City, the National Hispanic Medical Association and the National Medical Association are joining with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and others on a new public awareness campaign.
Campaign aims to improve flu vaccination rates
The campaign involves national and local public health agencies and organizations, as well as providers, pharmacists, faith-based groups and community leaders. It will educate physicians about effective interventions, such as reminders, and information about where to get free flu shots.
The Protecting All from Flu Campaign is an HHS demonstration project happening in eight cities including New York to reduce racial and ethnic disparities in vaccination rates.
