ONC seeks one to accredit the certifiers

ONC-authorized certification bodies—six so far—are required to renew their status every three years.
Healthcare providers must demonstrate meaningful use of an electronic health-record system that has been approved by one of the ONC's authorized testing and certification bodies to be eligible for the EHR incentive payment program created under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
