St. David's HealthCare, Austin, Texas, announced the hiring of a physician to be its first-ever senior vice president of clinical innovation.
St. David's adds innovation VP
Dr. William Rice will focus on the innovative use of electronic health records in clinical settings across St. David's, according to a news release. St. David's HealthCare is a joint venture of investor-owned HCA, Nashville, and two local foundations—St. David's Foundation, Austin, and Georgetown (Texas) Health Foundation—that are successors to tax-exempt providers.
Previously, Rice, 54, served as chief medical officer of WhiteGlove House Call Health, a company he co-founded. Dr. Kurt Berneburg was recently named Rice's successor at WhiteGlove. Rice also holds a patent for a system and method to optimize the care of chronic-disease patients.
