The New York-based Markle Foundation has named Laura Bailyn senior director of health initiatives. Bailyn, 39, is an attorney who most recently served as a business consultant for Apple's marketing and communications group.
It's not Bailyn's first time working for Markle, a not-for-profit organization that funds research in health information technology and national security. A decade ago, Bailyn served as program manager in the organization's Internet governance project. In that role, she "helped set the groundwork for our future involvement in technology-related health and national security policy," Markle President Zoe Baird said in a news release.
Bailyn's professional background also includes stints at Two Trees Management Co., a New York-based real estate development firm, and at the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, & Flom.
