Baptist Health System, San Antonio, has purchased the Heart and Vascular Institute of Texas, for an undisclosed amount.
Baptist Health buys cardiologist group
Under the terms of the deal, the Baptist Specialty Network, a not-for-profit affiliate of five-hospital Baptist Health, will own the institute, according to a news release from Baptist. The network is a foundation that employs physicians affiliated with the system, according to Michael Zucker, senior vice president for Baptist Health. Texas is one of the states that does not allow hospitals to employ physicians, he said.
The institute has 12 cardiologists working in five full-time offices in San Antonio, plus several satellite offices.
