Maybe Modern Physician readers know something most physician practices don't. More than three-quarters of readers who responded to a recent poll said their practices intend to seek federal subsidies for their electronic health-record systems under the meaningful-use criteria established by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Modern Physician readers eager for EHR money
Of the 223 readers who took the poll, 78% said they plan to apply for IT funding. Some 22% said they have no such plans. The poll ran from Jan. 17 through Jan. 28.
By comparison, statistics cited earlier this month by Dr. David Blumenthal, head of HHS' Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, indicated that only about 40% of physician practices plan to seek IT subsidies.
