The U.S. House of Representatives will consider legislation to repeal the health reform law next week and is expected to release a more detailed legislative schedule Friday, according to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor's (R-Va.) office.
House to take up reform repeal next week
House legislators had scheduled a Wednesday vote on whether to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act but postponed all legislative activity this week after the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and others in Tucson, Ariz., on Jan. 8.
“Americans have legitimate concerns about the cost of the new healthcare law and its effect on the ability to grow jobs in our country,” Laena Fallon, a spokeswoman in Cantor's office, said in a written statement. “It is our expectation that the debate will continue to focus on those substantive policy differences surrounding the new law.”
