Half of Modern Physician readers who responded to last week's poll said they don't expect physician-owned businesses to do as well financially this year as they did in 2010. Of the 259 readers who took the poll, 130, or about 50%, said they think physician-owned healthcare businesses will perform worse in 2011 than they did last year. The poll ran from Jan. 3 through Jan. 10.
Some 63 respondents, or 24%, said things should be about the same this year as compared with last. Meanwhile 54, or 21%, said they expected physician-owned healthcare businesses to do better this year, and 12, or 5%, said they were unsure how they expect this year to play out financially.
