Fairview Health Services has named two new physician executives to its senior leadership team, effective in the first quarter of 2011.
Fairview names doc execs to new posts
Dr. Mark Werner will become chief clinical integration officer for Minneapolis-based Fairview, and Dr. Brent Asplin will become president of the Fairview Medical Group. Both positions are new. Fairview declined to provide ages for Werner and Asplin.
Werner will direct systemwide quality and safety initiatives and manage medical staff. His role entails partnering with University of Minnesota Physicians and Fairview Physician Associates "to create and deliver the attributes of an academic medical system," according to a Fairview Health Services news release. Werner currently is chief medical officer and an executive vice president at Carilion Clinic, Roanoke, Va.
Asplin will direct strategic and operational activities at 40 Fairview Medical Group clinics owned by the health system across the Twin Cities. Asplin is the chairman of the emergency medicine department at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn.
