Charles Garner has been named executive VP and CFO of MedAssets, effective April 1. Garner, 40, joined MedAssets in 2005 and currently is senior vice president of corporate development for the Atlanta-based company, a group purchasing organization and provider of revenue-cycle and supply-chain management solutions. In his new role, Garner will replace Neil Hunn, 38, who assumed additional responsibilities as president of revenue-cycle technology in January 2010 and will take on that position on a full-time basis.

Two boards of directors have selected Michael Aubin to become the next top executive at Wolfson Children's Hospital, Jacksonville, Fla., after the retirement of the previous hospital administrator. Aubin's new title is hospital president of Wolfson Children's Hospital, where he takes on the role formerly held by Larry Freeman, who recently retired after 34 years as head of the hospital. The board of directors for the hospital and its Jacksonville-based owner, Baptist Health, approved the appointment, effective Jan. 1. Aubin, whose age was not available, comes to Wolfson from BayCare Health System's St. Joseph's Children's Hospital of Tampa, Fla., where he was administrator and COO. … St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, Syracuse, N.Y., appointed Dorothy Haag to the newly created position of director of quality resources. Haag, 46, with AnneMarie Czyz, VP for clinical services, Dr. Dennis Ehrich, chief quality officer, and Dr. Sandra Sulik, VP for medical affairs, will be responsible for coordinating quality efforts at St. Joseph's. Haag will continue to serve as assistant professor at St. Joseph's College of Nursing and Le Moyne College, according to a St. Joseph's spokeswoman. …
Kim Roberts has been named VP of physician network development and management at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif. Roberts will oversee the development of the pediatric hospital's network of community physicians in this newly created position. Roberts, whose age was not provided, was previously CEO of the Santa Clara Valley Health and Hospital System, which includes the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. Before that, she was CFO at the University of California San Diego Medical Center. ... Dr. Robert Cherry has been named to the newly created position of CMO and VP of clinical effectiveness at Loyola University Health System, Maywood, Ill. Cherry, 45, is a trauma surgeon, and he previously worked as associate chief quality officer at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa., and as medical director at the Penn State Shock Trauma Center, also in Hershey.
Renal-care provider DaVita named Dr. Stephen McMurray as VP of clinical integrated services, effective Jan. 3. McMurray's role, a newly created position within the office of the company's chief medical officer, will be to coordinate the company's services to prevent complications, reduce avoidable hospitalizations and improve patients' overall health, according to a news release. McMurray, 63, most recently was medical director for integrated care for Fresenius Medical Care, according to the release. He previously was a practicing nephrologist in Fort Wayne, Ind., and he was a founding member and board member of Renal Care Group, a company Fresenius acquired in 2006.
