Norwest Equity Partners, a Minneapolis-based venture capital firm, acquired Surgical Information Systems, an Alpharetta, Ga.-based firm that sells perioperative software solutions to hospitals and other providers. Norwest bought Surgical Information Systems from another venture capital firm, Vista Equity Partners, for an undisclosed amount. Vista acquired Surgical Information Systems, which was founded in 1996, four years ago.

Surgical Information Systems' current executive team, including CEO Ed Daihl, will remain in place, according to a news release from the company.
"Demand for perioperative-specific information solutions is rapidly growing, particularly in anesthesia solutions, and our new partnership with NEP represents the continuing evolution of the company," Daihl said in the release.
SIS spokeswoman Emmy Weber said the company has more than 275 hospital clients and generates about $40 million in annual revenue. The company employs about 200 people, she said.
