Catholic Health East, Newtown Square, Pa., has appointed a past member of its board of directors and its sponsors council, Sister Mary Persico, as executive vice president of mission integration for the 24-hospital Roman Catholic system. Persico, 63, succeeds Sister Julie Casey, who announced her retirement last year following 12 years in the position.
Persico named executive vice president at CHE
Persico, who began in the job in October, directs leadership for the system's sponsorship structure, including orientation and education at existing and new CHE sponsorship communities. She also will oversee CHE's public juridic person, Hope Ministries, and provide support and leadership for mission and ethics functions to CHE and its international healthcare organization, Global Health Ministry.
Persico served on the CHE board from 2006 to 2009, and on its sponsors council from 2004 to 2010. She also served from 2002 to 2010 as president of the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, one of CHE's religious sponsors.
