Healthcare Trust of America announced it has closed a $28.2 million deal for a North Carolina medical office park. The Medical Park of Cary (N.C) consists of eight one-story medical office buildings and one three-story facility near WakeMed Cary Hospital, according to a news release from the buyer, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based real estate investment trust. The medical office park covers roughly 153,000 square feet.

Mark Engstrom, the executive vice president of acquisitions for the Healthcare Trust, said in the release the deal was the trust's second in North Carolina and the trust continues to look for other deals in the market. In December, the Healthcare Trust also announced the acquisition of four long-term acute-care hospitals—two in Florida, two in Georgia—from Select Medical Corp. for $102 million. HTA's healthcare and medical office acquisitions since Jan. 1, 2010, have totaled $807 million, according to the release.
