Nominations for the seventh annual ranking of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives in Healthcare (formerly the 50 Most Powerful Physician Executives in Healthcare) are now being accepted. Modern Physician and sister publication Modern Healthcare co-sponsor this annual recognition program.
We're changing the name of the program to better reflect the skills needed to improve the healthcare delivery system in the post-healthcare reform era. It took power to make reform happen; now, it will take influence to make reform work.
To submit a nomination, visit ModernPhysician.com or ModernHealthcare.com. Through Dec. 31, readers can nominate as many physicians as they want, as well as make multiple nominations for an individual physician.
The 100 physician-executives who receive the most nominations will be placed on a final ballot. From Jan. 17 through Feb. 25, readers can cast their vote via either website.
Previously, the 50 physicians who received the most votes made the final list, with the ranking determined by the number of votes received. However, starting this year, readers' votes will count for only 50% of the outcome. The other 50% will come from the expert opinions of the senior editors at Modern Physician and Modern Healthcare. Modern Physician and Modern Healthcare also reserve the right to resolve voting irregularities.
The final 2011 ranking will be published in the May 9 issue of both Modern Physician and Modern Healthcare.
