Elliot Sussman, 59, has resigned as president and CEO of Lehigh Valley Health Network, Allentown Pa., a role he has held since 1993.
“Thanks to Dr. Sussman's vision and focus on quality care and patient safety, Lehigh Valley Health Network is uniquely positioned to continue to meet the health care needs of our community and beyond,” J.B. Reilly, chair of Lehigh Valley's board, said in a news release. “We wish him continued success.”
Ronald Swinfard, Lehigh Valley's current chief medical officer, has been named as Sussman's successor, according to the release. Swinfard has served as CMO since 2003. He was previously chairman of the department of dermatology at the University of Missouri-Columbia. A new CMO will be chosen at a later date, according to the release.
