Deadlines for webcast, case study contest, Trustee of the Year on horizon
A panel of distinguished healthcare industry judges annually selects winners for this recognition. The judges will review the nominations using a set of 10 eligibility and award criteria. A list of the criteria can be found under the Awards & Honors section on the magazine's website, ModernHealthcare.com. Readers also can find past inductees in the special section this year of the March 22 issue of Modern Healthcare or through the Awards & Honors section. Since 1988, a total of 87 healthcare executives and leaders have been inducted into the Health Care Hall of Fame.
Please send nominating letters and background information on the candidates to: Hall of Fame, c/o Neil McLaughlin, managing editor, Modern Healthcare, 360 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60601. Again, the nomination deadline is Jan. 3. Inductees will be announced in February and profiled in the March 21 issue. They will be honored at a dinner held March 20, in conjunction with the American College of Healthcare Executives' annual congress in Chicago.
Three other deadlines are coming up quickly.
If you haven't registered for our Nov. 17 editorial webcast on the growing role of clinical informaticists, there's still time. The webcast, moderated by Modern Healthcare reporter Maureen McKinney, will feature presentations by three of the recently recognized Top 25 Clinical Informaticists in Healthcare (Nov. 8, p. 26). The panelists are Elizabeth Johnson from Tenet Healthcare Corp.; George Reynolds with Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.; and Christopher Snyder with Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. You can register at modernhealthcare.com/webinars.
Dec. 3 is the deadline for submitting your case study in our first annual Revenue Cycle Cast Study Contest. The program recognizes healthcare providers who have implemented programs, services, strategies, departments or staffing that has improved their billing and collection operations. The best case studies will be featured in a special section of the
Jan. 31 issue of Modern Healthcare. All submitted case studies will appear in a special section on ModernHealthcare.com.
Dec. 3 also is the deadline to submit your nominations for our annual Trustee of the Year competition. The awards, co-sponsored by executive search firm Witt/Kieffer, will honor four outstanding trustees for their contributions to healthcare governance. The recipients will be announced and profiled in the Feb. 14 issue of Modern Healthcare.
And if you miss your deadline, you'll have to deal with Supriya Doshi, the newest member of our copy desk in our Chicago newsroom. Doshi, 28, replaces James Tehrani, 37, who moved over to our sister publication, Workforce Management, as copy desk chief. Doshi is responsible for editing content for all of our print and digital publications. Doshi also will be contributing to our growing use of social media to gather and disseminate news and information. Doshi is a former copy editor, columnist and blogger for the RedEye, a publication owned by the Tribune Co. in Chicago. She has a Bachelor of Science in print journalism from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
