Chicago-based software company Merge Healthcare has acquired several assets from Fletcher-Flora Health Care Systems, a laboratory information systems company in Anaheim, Calif. The deal was announced on Fletcher-Flora's website; terms were not disclosed.
Merge acquired all five of Fletcher-Flora's laboratory information system product offerings, including the company's Web-based FFlex eSuite LIS, and its smaller, entry-level FFlex eSuite MGR.
Julie Pekarek, Merge's vice president of marketing, confirmed the acquisition. "Having assets in the LIS space is a great way to broaden our ability to bring solutions for overall EHR adoption," she said.
Fletcher-Flora will continue to market its connectivity solutions.
The deal comes on the heels of Merge's appointment this week of Jeffery Surges as CEO. Surges previously served as president of sales at Allscripts.
